Secure Journeys, a Management & Training Corporation Pty Ltd company, has been selected to operate Australia’s Onshore Immigration Detention Network on behalf of the Australian Government.
Our expertise in holistically managing the needs of people in detention, and similar environments, safely, in good order, and with dignity is at the heart of what we deliver.
Secure Journeys will begin providing garrison, facilities management, security, detainee operations, welfare and engagement, transport and escort, and business services from early 2025.
The initial term of the contract will run for five years.
MTC Australia Managing Director Troy Ittensohn said the contract would build on the company’s growing portfolio, which encompassed operating Parklea Correctional Centre in Western Sydney on behalf of Corrective Services NSW, and providing facilities, garrison, transferee arrivals and reception services in Nauru on behalf of the Australian Government.
“MTC Australia delivers safe, decent and secure services, with a focus on welfare and rehabilitation,” Mr Ittensohn said.
“Our parent company Management & Training Corporation (MTC) has been providing high-quality education, corrections and detention services in the United States, the United Kingdom and Egypt for more than 40 years, and we are proud to continue that tradition in Australia.
“We promote a caring culture in all our centres based on safety, respect and dignity, which includes MTC’s BIONIC – Believe It Or Not I Care – philosophy.
“We are pleased the Australian Government has entrusted us with this important contract, and I, along with my team, are committed to delivering a safe, engaged and compassionate Immigration Detention Network.
“This will build on the work we are already doing with the Department of Home Affairs in Nauru and I look forward broadening our relationship to deliver another high-quality service with this new project.”
